LANCE S. RUBLE MEMORIAL GRANT

Friday, 20. August 2010

Thank you for supporting the “Lance S. Ruble Memorial Grant” for Mesothelioma research.

Grant totals are posted at the end of each month.  Currently, we are receiving donations for the month of August.

During the months of June and July, we received a total amount of $15,320.00 in donations.

The “Lance S. Ruble Memorial Grant” has received a total of $81,029.10  in donations from August 2009 through July 2010.

On September  18th, the Ruble family will have a community garage sale where all proceeds will go to the Grant.  September 26, 2010 in National Mesothelioma Awareness Day and the family will be hosting a walk to gain awareness for the disease and to honor Lance.

On December 18, 2009, the Ruble Family selected Prasad Adusumilli to be awarded the $100,000 for the “Lance S. Ruble Memorial Grant.”  Dr. Adusumilli will focus on a novel approach to mesothelioma using a vaccine to enhance a mesothelioma patient’s own immune cells.  This study effects pleural mesothelioma patients which is the type of mesothelioma that Lance had.  In addition, the immune therapy approach has interested our family since seeing results in patients at ITL in the Bahamas.  Finally, this approach does not sacrifice quality of life, like the traditional approaches of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation.
