The Ruble Family hosted a Mesothelioma Mission Walk for a Cure on Sunday, September 25, 2011.  Thank you for your support.

September 26, 2010 was National Mesothelioma Awareness Day.  The Ruble family hosted a walk to gain awareness for mesothelioma and to honor Lance.  They had over 100 walkers who participated in this event. 

On September 15, 2009 , Erica spoke at the City of Fort Lauderdale Commissioner’s Meeting and received a Proclamation from Mayor Seiler declaring September 26, 2009 as Mesothelioma Awareness Day.  Erica’s speech and the Proclamation can be heard at the following web address http://ci.ftlaud.fl.us/commission/video_broadcast.htm.  Click on September 15, 2009, Regular Meeting.

~CAPITOL HILL MEETINGS IN WASHINGTON DC

In June of 2010, the Ruble family attended the MARF Symposium in Washington, DC for the second year.  Once again, they lobbied on Capitol Hill to ban asbestos and increase awareness for mesothelioma.  They met with representatives from Senator Nelson’s office and Senator LeMieux’s office.  In addition, they also met with Congresswoman Schultz’s office.   

In June of 2009, Erica and Michael attended the MARF Symposium in Washington, DC.  In Washington, they descended on Capitol Hill where they met with representatives from past Senator, Mel Martinez and Senator, Bill Nelson’s office.  At these meetings, they urged their representatives to support the strictest possible ban on asbestos and increase federal funding for mesothelioma.  Asbestos is still imported into the United States despite the fact that 40 industrialized countries have banned it.  Asbestos is still widely used in building materials and present in many consumer products.  As a result, everyday occurrences like going to work, remodeling a home, or normal wear on brakes of a family vehicle are exposing all of us to the hazardous risk of mesothelioma, just like Lance was exposed.
